What if Nature could become shareholder?

What if Nature could become shareholder?

Today, there is no legal structure that allows public interest and living organisms to be placed at the heart of a company's strategy in a sustainable manner.

Existing models, from mission-driven companies to steward ownership, do not yet offer a fully satisfactory solution for representing and protecting the interests of natural capital.

Recognise Natural Capital

At Vivøices, we develop pioneering solutions to give nature a real place in corporate governance and capital.

We are currently the most advanced public interest organisation working on this issue, and we are working to create a new archetype: Nature Shareholding.

This approach gives nature a place carved in stone that of a shareholder that no one can dismiss; establishes strategic and sovereign power for the long term; and recognises and rewards the value of natural capital and ‘contributions in kind’ through ecological dividends.

Benefits of nature shareholder

Integrating Nature Shareholding means bringing about a genuine paradigm shift by transforming environmental responsibility into a structural force, on a par with economic and social interests.

By embracing this dynamic, companies gain in attractiveness, credibility and systemic resilience.

The Green Share

The Green Share

Inspired by the golden share, the green share is one or more shares with special rights.

These rights may relate to changes in capital, changes in status or the appointment of directors; but above all, in the case of the green share, the raison d'être, environmental commitments, strategy and environmental reporting.

Nature-based shareholding is a first step towards reconciling business and nature in the long term. Pioneering companies have understood this and have already embarked on this movement towards nature-based governance.

We support some of these companies and aim to bring them together to develop our alliance of practitioners.
