FAQ
What is an endowment fund?
An endowment fund is a non-profit charitable organisation that collects donations to finance works or missions of general interest. It receives assets and rights contributed free of charge and irrevocably, then uses the income from their capitalisation to achieve its objectives, either directly or by assisting another organisation. This mechanism makes it possible to finance projects in a sustainable manner, while guaranteeing the longevity of the capital.
Why to choose this legal structure?
We have chosen to create an endowment fund so that we can place the public interest at the heart of our approach to governance. We firmly believe that this issue must be handled by a trusted third party.
What are the differences between the rights of nature and nature governance?
The nature rights movement aims to give legal personality and rights to natural entities (rivers, forests, etc.). While adhering to this philosophy, Vivøices does not intend to implement this project. The nature governance we advocate refers to the participation of living beings in the decision-making process of organisations, without the need to transform our legal frameworks. Nature governance is a practical and political approach.
What is your definition of Nature?
We work closely with scientists and academic researchers on all of our topics. We have chosen to define Nature through the Stockholm Resilience Centre's nine planetary boundaries, a model widely recognised by all stakeholders in science, the private and public sectors, and major institutional bodies.
How to support Vivøices?
